My use case is with a user I'm helping set up about a dozen sites and there is a lot of similar code I'm using with the SUO snippet among the sites. Using extensions to store that code would be excellent and easier to manage. Included page "inc:signature" does not exist (create it now)

(Edit, Permalink) I'm also considering that private extensions could be installed directly, entering the code into STE (and therefore not requiring an Internet connection to "install" them). I assume that would also suit your use case. The one I go with in the end will depend on whichever is easiest to implement. Hard to say at the moment, as both options mean I need to mess around with the current system and possibly break something that's already working ;-) Included page "inc:signature" does not exist (create it now)

I have a couple of selfish reasons I'd like to see this implemented sooner than later. Edit: Especially now that we can use variables! Included page "inc:signature" does not exist (create it now)

(Edit, Permalink) Your vote has got to be worth at least 10 of our votes! ;) I'd like to start some testing with extensions that won't have much appeal for general users. How about a short term "fix" that allows the ability to tag an extension as _hidden so it can be filtered out of the main extension index? My thinking is that once I get an extension loaded and stored in my extension.data file, it can be removed from the repository. I haven't tried yet, but I assume that I can copy the extension.data file to other PCs and have the same set of extensions available without having to install them. Yes, exactly. As long as they are using the same version of STE. The way the extensions are stored… it's possible that any major overhaul to how extensions work may make the extensions.data file useless and you'll have to re-install them.
