It hasn't been worked on for a little while, and I'm considering committing some more time to it. However, this is only worthwhile if people are still interested in using the software. A lot has changed over the past couple of years. Please post a quick comment here, responding with: Do you still have STE installed? Would you use it if it was actively developed again? And, (optional): Name one feature (in one sentence) that you would like to be implemented first. The interest level and responses here will determine what happens next. These days, my bigger sites (for a summer course and an indie video game) are static; and I've mostly just been editing a private personal/team wiki for work. So I haven't found myself needing STE lately and don't expect to need to wrangle any new sites any time soon (since no teaching is on the horizon). If I don't get many more responses, I'm thinking I should just add exporting into version 4 and then settle with bug fixes only from then onwards. 10 Feb 2016 07:44. Edited 1 times. (Edit, Permalink) Hi Shane! I have to say that the situations to use the STE (without a network connection) in my town/country is for me not longer given. The times I am underway with the train or tram (or aeroplane) and I have to work standalone are gone (- for me! ). There is practically always a connection to the net and wikidot. I have never thaught to use the STE ( even it is installed!) - there was no necessarity for me. Could be that Rob or other younger users has more useful situations? I think what you have written in your last post - only bug fixing and adding export into version 4 should be really enough for long time . But this is only my oppinion - and I am not a big user from STE. Included page "inc:signature" does not exist (create it now)

I did find STE very useful when I was working on a train through the Scottish Highlands with poor internet connections. Over the last couple of years the internet connection has improved and my work has changed with the result that I've not found any major need to use STE. It was and is a very useful program and I would certainly like it to continue. Included page "inc:signature" does not exist (create it now)

I would like to test-drive the STE 4.0 or other Version. I have been trying out some date and year calculations, but it messes up the whole screen, as it looses the line the cursor is when the function is closed, so I reverted back to the MANUAL WAY! - Now I will still have to edit all DATE pages once every year ! :-( If I have more time I will get back to those problems, but I have more burning issues right now. It might be that you're using the Google Chrome extension by Kenneth instead (which suggests code as you type in an editor box on your browser), rather than STE. A screenshot might help, especially if this is indeed STE-related :) Included page "inc:signature" does not exist (create it now)

Actually I LOVE this application however after having my computer crash several times I have not been able to to use it. If I want save and export a page or just use any other given allowed command. In result I have not been able to properly use the application. Can I still use the given commands on this sites wiki or are there other problems going on like this that will make this issue have to wait? You mentioned that saving/exporting to Wikidot is an option, which sounds like you're using Version 3. Is that correct? Would it be possible for you to explain in more detail what happens when you attempt to use them? Perhaps a screenshot would help, if you're able to provide one. Hopefully we can sort this out for you and get it working again. Thanks. Update: I just tested both V3 and V4 and both seem to be working as expected, including import & export, for me. Version 4 was a complete rewrite of the application and is missing many critical features - including exporting/saving pages. It's useful only for getting an overview of a site's structure at the moment. If you download Version 3.50 (see the link for Linux users), that one also works on Windows / OS X. It supports saving back to Wikidot, and those keyboard shortcuts you mentioned should also work. Try that one and let me know how you go. I've considered going back to the V3 codebase for any future releases, because the V4 rewrite lost many useful features, and I should have released it as a separate tool entirely, not an upgrade. (Edit, Permalink) You're right that it could be made much clearer what the difference is, so that people can make an educated decision regarding which version to download. I've recently been re-evaluating a number of my projects, and this editor is one of them. In the near future I will either update the editor to have both V3 and V4 features … or I'll update the download page to indicate the difference so that it's clear for users.
